2) Server News #2: OpenSUSE 13.2 available for dedicated servers

With the release of OpenSUSE 13.2 (code name "Harlequin") the distribution can now be installed on dedicated servers via the customer panel. "Harlequin" is, in addition to the default configuration, available in a RAID1 setup. For a more personalized setup, we also offer the comfortable VNC installation.

OpenSUSE 13.2 runs on a modified 3.16 kernel, which contains improvements for xfs and btrfs. The network framework "wicked" replaces the older "ifup" - scripts. As announced in the release of its predecessor, btrfs is now standard in OpenSUSE 13.2. "Harlequin" entails mainly updates for the scripting languages Ruby (2.1.3), Python (2.7.8 and 3.4.1), PHP (5.6.1) and Perl (5.20).

The new release has now abandoned the official support for GRUB Legacy, so that, as is well known since 13.1, GRUB 2 is the default bootloader. In addition, the usage of btrfs with the use of snapper allows the creation of snapshots before and after an update with zypper.

More features:

· AppArmor in version 2.9
· file system snapshots with "snapper"
· official support for btrfs
· gcc in version 4.8 and 4.9
