1) Server News #1: Operating System Debian 8 available for dedicated servers

After about 2 years of development, the Debian Project has released the final version 8 (code name "Jessie") of its Linux distribution.

"Jessie" is now available for dedicated servers and can be installed via the EUserv customer panel. Besides the standard version, we also offer a RAID1 version for increased data security.

The UEFI support - introduced in "Wheezy"- was further expanded and supplied with fixes for known firmware problems. As with Ubuntu, the new Debian also relies on systemd as standard init system. SysVInit and other systems may also be used if necessary.

On the software side "Jessie" comes with updates for MySQL (5.5.42) or MariaDB (10.0.16), the GNU compiler in version 4.9.2, Perl 5.20.2 and much more. As kernel, the Linux kernel version 3.16 is used. Due to the "LTS Initiative" Debian 8 (as its two predecessors) will be supplied with updates for 5 years.

More features:

- systemd as init-system
- Linux-Kernel 3.16
- over 43.000 Software packages available
- GNU Compiler Collection 4.9.2

2) Server News #2: Operating System Gentoo: Current Snapshot available for dedicated servers

The Meta-Distribution Gentoo has been updated. A recent snapshot is available in the customer panel for automatic installation on all dedicated root servers. In addition to the standard installation a RAID1 version for increased data security is available.

Gentoo has been designed as "Running Release" with continuous updates. A bulk of packages is available as source code and is compiled on the respective hardware. The central part of this Linux distribution is the package management "Portage". This ensures optimum and machine-specific configuration of the software. The modular concept of Gentoo thus allows the most diverse applications, whether as a web server, virtualization host or mail server.

More features:

- Kernel 3.18.12
- GRUB2 as Default-Bootloader
- OpenRC as Init-System

3) Support News: New EUserv Android App Update enables live monitoring of your server

With the latest update of the EUserv Android App to version 1.3.4, the Live Monitoring is now available. A similar option for server monitoring is already available in the customer panel.

With the update you have the option to view your server status. The power supply, Ping IPv4 and SSH IPv4 can be displayed . Unless you have generated an IPv6 address for your server, you will see the Ping IPv6 and SSH IPv6. Furthermore, you can see whether a faulty server configuration exists. The server status display can be started directly from the App.

Prerequisite for using the App on your smartphone or tablet is an internet connection and at least Android version 2.1.

The App can be downloaded for free via the Google Play Store:
