Post by: katrinateuserv on November 28, 2014, 11:45:43 AM
Hello,

Before the release of the next Ubuntu "Vivid Vervet" next April, the Developer have released version 10.14 ("Utopic Unicorn"). Version 14.10 of the popular Linux distribution can now be installed for all dedicated servers via the EUserv customer panel. In addition to the standard installation a RAID1 version is also available.

Ubuntu Server 10.14  runs on a kernel 3.16 and brings the usual updates for some packages. These include Qemu version 2.1 and the virtualization library "libvirt" in version 1.2.8.. The virtualization solution LXC ("Linux Containers") is present in version 1.1; in addition LXC container can be managed with the orchestration-tool "Juju". Furthermore, "Utopic Unicorn" contains OpenStack's new version of "Juno" (2014.2).

As announced since version 12.10, the non-LTS versions of Ubuntu are supplied with updates for 9 months so "Utopic Unicorn" will be "End-Of-Life" 3 months after the release of the next LTS. Up to the change to systemd (which is already included optional) in April, Upstart is still used.

More Features:

- LXC 1.1 / Juju 1.20.10
- OpenStack version 2014.2
- Docker 1.2
- Qemu 2.1, libvirt 1.2.8

kind regards,
Katrin
