Post by: katrinateuserv on August 25, 2014, 09:21:13 AM
Hello,

After CentOS 7.0 has been introduced for dedicated servers, the new release is now ready to be installed via the customer panel for all VPS. The Red Hat-based distribution is known for long time support and stability. Currently, there is a support to mid-2024 for CentOS 7.0..

Some innovations, which come with the latest release, are the upgrade to kernel 3.10, MariaDB in version 5.5, Apache in version 2.4 and PostgreSQL in version 9.2. In addition, CentOS switched to Systemd, uses Firewalld and Grub 2 as boot loader and  XFS as default file system. The interoperability with Windows installations and integration in Active-Directory environments have been improved.

The main features of CentOS 7.0:

- Systemd now as standard init system
- Kernel 3.10
- use of Firewalld
- Grub2 boot loader

kind regards,
Katrin
