Update Gentoo for dedicated root servers
« on: February 21, 2014, 11:18:11 AM »

Hello,

For the meta-distribution Gentoo we have made an update. A current snapshot is available in the customer panel for automatic installation on all dedicated root servers. As usual, a RAID1 version for increased data security is available in addition to the standard installation.

Gentoo is not version -oriented unlike other Linux distributions, but designed as a "Running Release" with continuous updates. Much of the packages is available as source code and compiled on that hardware. This ensures optimal and machine-specific configuration of the software. The "modular concept" of Gentoo allows versatile us e, regardless of whether web servers, clusters or virtualization environment.

Other features:

- Kernel 3.10.25
- OpenRC as Init-System
- GRUB2 as Default-Bootloader

kind regards,
Katrin
