Hello,
Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" is now available for all dedicated servers and can be installed via the EUserv customer panel. In addition to a standard installation of one hard disk, a RAID1 version can be selected.
The new release includes the next OpenStack version "Kilo" and Docker in Version 1.5. OpenvSwitch is available in version 2.3.1; database sided MySQL (5.6) and MariaDB (10.0.17) got updates.
When it comes to virtualization, "Vivid Vervet" comes up with Qemu 2.2 and Libvirt 1.2.12. With the plug-in "Nova-compute-lxd" OpenStack containers can now be operated under LXD.
As it´s technical base Debian, Ubuntu is now using systemd as init system. In addition to some rudimentary tasks, Upstart disappears from the popular Linux distribution. "Vivid Vervet" is expected to be supplied with updates for 9 months.
The main features of 15.04:
- systemd as new init system
- Kernel 3.19
- OpenStack "Kilo"
- Qemu 2.2 and Libvirt 1.2.12
- Docker 1.5
kind regards,
Katrin
