2) Server News #1: VMware ESXi 6.0 available

With the release of vSphere 6.0, VMware has approved the corresponding free
version of BareMetal Hypervisor "ESXi" which can be installed via the
EUserv customer panel in Beta-Status for several weeks.

Version 6.0 of ESXi is particularly suitable for professional
virtualization on physical servers. The administration is carried out via
the graphical administration tool "vSphere Client" (also available for
free). Also, the command-line tool "esxcli" can be used for these purposes
directly on the ESXi host.


With "Virtual Machine Hardware 11", ESXi 6.0 comes with improvements for
virtual serial or parallel ports. In addition, the new version brings a
virtual USB 3.0 host controller. Another innovation is the extended support
for guest OS. These include, Mac OSX, FreeBSD 9.3, Solaris 11.2 and Ubuntu
12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS.


More features:

- support for up to 12 TB of physical RAM and 480 physical CPUs
- maximum of 1000 VMs per ESXi instance
- advanced command set for "esxcli"
- "Virtual Machine Hardware" in version 11


Please note, that ESXi 6.0 is only compatible with the following
server-series:

* Prime64 v5
* Pro64 v5
* Filer Pro v1

3) Server News #2: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 available

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11, a Linux distribution specifically
suited for business customers is now available and can be installed via the
customer panel. After licensing SLES 11 offers appropriate support and a
long-term maintenance phase of 13 years.

As a standard file system ext3 is used next to btrfs. Gnome or KDE can be
selected as desktops. SLES is also suitable for the establishment of a pure
virtualization host with KVM or Xen.


The installation itself ensued graphically via VNC. This allows an
individual design of the partition, software selection and other settings.
