Proxmox VE 4.0 for dedicated servers available
« on: October 23, 2015, 06:12:27 PM »

Hello,

The virtualization platform Proxmox VE 4.0 can now be installed via the EUserv customer panel in version Standard or RAID1 (both with LVM).

The new release comes with a number of significant changes. These include eg. the complete support for IPv6 (for VMs as well as containers) and the use of LXC instead of OpenVZ.

Proxmox VE 4.0 is based on Debian 8 ("Jessie") and a kernel 4.2.
Qemu/KVM in version 2.4 and the current Ceph-packages are used, DRBD 9 is included as tech preview. "NoVNC" is used as client to access virtual machines.

With the new release, OpenVZ containers are replaced by LXC. The cluster management has also been overhauled and can now be managed by GUI ("HA Manager"). Another new feature is the "Proxmox HA Simulator". This simulates a virtual cluster consisting of three nodes and 6 VMs . With the cluster, some test scenarios can be processed in advance (How does the cluster react when a node fails or parts of the network are no longer accessible).

More features:

- OpenVZ containers replaced by LXC
- DRBD 9 as Tech-Preview
- full IPv6-Support (for VMs, containers and host)
- Simulation tool "HA Simulator"

kind regards,
Katrin
