OpenBSD 5.6 available for dedicated servers
« on: December 04, 2014, 05:28:13 PM »

Hello,

OpenBSD 5.6 is now available for all dedicated servers and can be installed via the EUserv customer panel. For the first time the new release includes the OpenSSL Fork "LibreSSL". In addition to over 8800 ports,  8588 precompiled binary packages are ready to install for 64-bit architectures. Above all,  OpenBSD 5.6 comes with updated drivers for network cards.

The BSD Fork contains gcc versions 4.6.4, 4.8.3 and 4.9.0 and llvm 3.5. Some scripting languages (python, ruby, PHP) are included in different versions. IPv6 is now deactivated by default on all interfaces. Assigning a corresponding address makes IPv6 automatically available.

For security reasons, OpenSSH (6.7) deactivates insecure Ciphers such as RC4 by default. Several minor bug fixes and software updates in Userland complete the new release.

More features:

- OpenSMTPD 5.4.3
- Security updates for OpenSSH 6.7
- new httpd HTTP-Server with FastCGI and SSL-support
- integration of LibreSSL

kind regards,
Katrin
