Fedora 21 available for dedicated servers
« on: February 17, 2015, 11:54:01 AM »

Hello,

Fedora 21 (flavor "Server" ) is now available for dedicated servers and can be installed via the customer panel. The new release is available as minimal image as well as VNC Install with graphical installation wizard.

With Fedora 21 a division into three different applications ("flavors") is coming. "Workstation", "Server" and "cloud" (the latter offer a minimum configuration without a GUI) can be selected. Basis for the new release is the kernel 3.17.

ext4 is still used as the default file system and the switch to btrfs will probably be resolved with Fedora 22.

The "Cockpit Management Console", developed by RHEL and Fedora , is new in Fedora 21 Server and provides a web interface for remote administration of a server. This fits into the already existing systemd (version 215).

More features:

- MariaDB in version 10.0
- systemd 215
- "Kubernetes" to administer docker containers
- Python 3.4 / Ruby 2.1
- gcc 4.9

kind regards,
Katrin
